Time & Bill documentation

Mobile App

Use the mobile app for daily time tracking, stopwatches, project and task work, and connecting to your Time & Bill backend.

The Time & Bill mobile app is built for the daily workflows you need away from the browser: reviewing the day, adding or correcting time entries, working with stopwatches, and managing projects and tasks.

Download the app from the official stores:

Sign in with the same Time & Bill account that you use in the web application. The app requires an internet connection because it reads and writes data through a Time & Bill backend.

If your account is no longer authorised, the app sends you back to the login screen and explains that you need to sign in again. If your account has no active subscription and is outside any grace period, the app opens in read-only mode. You can still review data, but changes such as adding time, editing projects, or starting stopwatches are blocked until the account is active again.

Switch backend server

By default, the app connects to the hosted Time & Bill cloud service. If your organisation uses a compatible self-hosted or on-premise Time & Bill backend, you can connect the app to that server instead.

  1. Open the login screen.
  2. Open Switch Server.
  3. Enter the full backend URL provided by your administrator.
  4. Tap Use Server.
  5. Sign in with the account that belongs to that backend.

The selected backend server is stored on the device. The server editor stays collapsed on the next start because most users do not switch servers often.

Use only backend URLs that you trust. A custom server receives your login request and all time tracking data created through the app.

Dashboard

The dashboard shows the selected day, daily work time, weekly work time, and the time entries for that day. Use the arrows to move to the previous or next day, and use Today to return to the current day.

Pull the dashboard down to refresh the data from the server. This is useful after changes in the web app or after reconnecting to the backend.

Tap a time entry to edit it. Long-press or swipe an entry to delete it. Deleting a time entry removes it from reports, so use this only when the booked work should no longer count.

Add or edit time

Use Add Time to create a time entry. Select the date, start time, end time, project, task, and optional description. The picker controls use scrollable selection lists so the same interaction pattern is used for dates, times, projects, and tasks.

When you edit an existing entry, the form is pre-filled with the current values. Saving returns you to the dashboard and refreshes the shown totals.

Stopwatches

Stopwatches help when you switch between tasks during the day. Create a stopwatch by selecting a project and task, then start it when work begins. A running stopwatch shows when it started and how much time has passed.

When you stop and book a stopwatch, Time & Bill creates a normal time entry. If the resulting time range conflicts with existing entries, open the booking form and adjust the time before saving.

Projects and tasks

The mobile app lets you review, create, edit, and remove projects and tasks. Project and task selection uses the same picker style as the time entry form.

Tasks with existing tracked time require extra care before removal. Time & Bill can either move tracked time to another task or delete the task and its tracked time after confirmation.

Settings

The settings screen shows the current account, company if one is available, backend server, and language. Use it to refresh account data, change the app language, or sign out.

Language selection is stored on the device and used across the app.

Connection problems

The app is not intended as an offline time tracker yet. If the device is offline or the backend is unavailable, the app shows the problem clearly and lets you try again once the connection is back.
